2023 Perimeter Mowing Pilot
Here in the City of Cleveland we know that we have a lot of work to do to improve mowing lots.
The City is responsible for mowing more than 20,000 lots each growing season. With more than 60 crews working full time, we can only cut lots about 3-4 times each season, which means that lots often go 7-8 weeks without maintenance.
We know that this slow cutting cycle results in high grass and unsightly vacant lots around the city. That's why we are experimenting with ways to improve the look and feel of lots. One of these pilot projects is called Perimeter Mowing.
With Perimeter Mowing, we will cut around the outside of the lot every two weeks in addition to the large tractor cuts every 8 weeks. The goal is to make lots look neater and better cared for, especially in high traffic areas near the schools and playgrounds.
Our first pilot locations are the lots around AB Hart School. Do you think Perimeter Mowing is helping? Let us know what you think using this feedback form.
