New Interim Councilwoman Representing Ward 4

Interim Councilwoman Marion Anita Gardner was appointed and sworn in June 2021 to represent Ward 4 which includes the neighborhoods of Shaker Square and portions of the Buckeye-Shaker, Woodland Hills, and Mount Pleasant.
She was chosen by the Cuyahoga County Probate Judge to fill the position left vacant by Councilman Ken Johnson’s suspension in April. The interim councilwoman is not running for election in November 2021 for a full four year term. Her appointment ends Dec. 31, 2021.
During her six months as interim she plans to emphasis COVID-19 vaccinations for Ward residents, better internet access and access to job training and home renovation programs.
She is a graduate of Jane Adams High School. She completed three years of college Dyke College downtown but left to get a job TRW Valve Division where she worked for nearly 32 years before a medical issue force her to retire.
Interim Councilwoman Gardner started the Concerned Citizens Community Council in the late 2000s working as an advocate for the community, especially the seniors, for housing, transportation and more and as she puts it to “put the neighbor back in front of hood.”
