Councilman Kazy Appointed to NLC Committee

Jan 19, 2021

National League of Cities Brian Kazy

Cleveland City Councilman Brian Kazy has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2021 Public Safety and Crime Prevention’s Federal Advocacy Committee.

Councilman Kazy, who represents Ward 16 on Cleveland's West Side, was elected to another one-year term (7th overall) and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Kathy Maness, councilmember, Lexington, South Carolina.

“In light of crime and safety issues in Cleveland and other cities across the nation, it is imperative that cities share their crime-fighting strategies so that we all can learn from successes and failures," said Councilman Kazy. "I will work to bring new and effective ideas back to Cleveland."

Councilman Kazy will also play a key role among a diverse group of public officials in shaping and advocating NLC’s policy positions.

“Our federal advocacy committees are the voices of what’s happening on the ground in our communities,” said Kathy Maness, councilmember of Lexington, South Carolina, and President of the National League of Cities (NLC). “I am proud to have Councilman Kazy join NLC's Public Safety and Crime Preventions committee on behalf of his residents.

"Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to solve the most pressing challenges facing our communities.”
