Council members Blaine A. Griffin, Jasmin Santana, Kris Harsh, and Stephanie Howse attended the United Way of Greater Cleveland’s 2022 Annual Community Luncheon to hear about the organization’s community impact. Council member Santana also sits on the United Way Board of Directors.

WKYC Managing Editor Russ Mitchell served as the emcee for the Luncheon, attended by approximately 700 at the Global Center for Health and Innovation. Featured speakers included Cleveland Guardians Chairman and CEO Paul Dolan, United Way's outgoing President and CEO August A. Napoli, former immediate United Way Board Chairman Marc S. Byrnes, and incoming United Way President and CEO Sharon Sobol Jordan. The event also included a live, remote interview by WKYC’S Isabel Lawrence of the May Dugan Center and Frontline Cleveland to hear directly about United Way’s impact on their organizations and patrons.

United Way supports numerous programs and initiatives. The luncheon highlighted several programs and initiatives, including Right to Counsel and Lead Safe CLE, two initiatives that were recently championed and passed by Council. It is Council’s hope that these initiatives – in addition to future proposed legislation – will allow people to focus on education, employment, and improving their lives. Outgoing CEO and President and CEO Napoli also singled out Council President Blaine A. Griffin For his commitment to improving life outcomes for Clevelanders.

The luncheon also celebrated outgoing United Way President & CEO August A. Napoli for his work and commitment to the community. The occasion also provided the opportunity to welcome incoming United Way President & CEO Sharon Sobol Jordan.
