Lead Poisoning Awareness Week and Challenges Ahead for a Lead-Safe Cleveland

Cleveland ( Oct. 23, 2023) - Today marks the beginning of Lead Poisoning Awareness Week. This morning, the Administration and lead advocates around the city held a press conference at 9 am in the City Hall Rotunda. Councilwoman Maurer spoke at the press conference.

“As we head into Lead Week, I fundamentally believe that we’re at a crossroads in this work. We’ve had some remarkable achievements. But there are also areas where we are struggling,” said Councilwoman Maurer, who is co-chair of the city’s Lead Safe Advisory Board. 

Her remarks went on to discuss key challenges that the city and partners face in realizing the dream of a lead-safe Cleveland. Her full remarks and supplemental materials are attached.
