Grand Opening of Indoor Pickleball Center

Feb 19, 2025

Join Councilman Brian Kazy (Ward 16) on Friday for the grand opening of the indoor Cleveland Pickleball Center that transformed a long-closed empty building in his ward into a destination spot.

Councilman Kazy advocated for a $100,000 grant from federal revenue recovery funds to assist in renovating the building at 12400 Crossburn Avenue.

Before the renovation, for which the developer contributed $1 million, the empty structure had overgrown trees and bushes hiding most of the building, scrubby grasses covering what was once a gravel parking lot, and tires and debris covering the property.

There are now 10 new pickleball courts, and the developer plans to host tournaments and corporate events. Players will also be able to sign up for memberships.

“This is definitely a good use of American Rescue Plan Act funding,” Councilman Kazy said. “I said it would be a destination spot when it opens, and by the crowd that came for the soft opening last weekend, it is. All 10 courts were filled the whole day.

“I appreciate the owner Robert Euerle agreeing that whatever went in that building, we wanted it to be something that would be a neighborhood attraction.”

Pickleball has been sweeping the nation and is the fastest-growing sport in the US. It is played with two or four players on a court similar to a doubles badminton court. The game uses an undersized net, paddles made of wood or composite materials, and hard plastic balls with holes in them. It is played both indoors and outdoors.
