Councilmember Brian Kazy Appointed Chair of National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee and Board of Directors

Councilman Brian Kazy (Ward 16) has been appointed as the Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Federal Advocacy Committee. Elected to a one-year term, Councilman Kazy will provide strategic direction and guidance for the NLC's federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, gun violence, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and homeland security. In addition to his role as Chair of the committee, Kazy will also serve a one-year term on the NLC Board of Directors. The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio.
“In learning of the announcement, Councilman Kazy shared, "The City of Cleveland has gone through many difficulties and changes the past decade and as the Chair of Public Safety and Crime Prevention, I will utilize the advocacy of the Chair and National League of Cities to help better improve Cleveland and move it forward”.
As Chair of the committee, Councilmember Kazy will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home in Cleveland, Ohio.

The leadership of this year's committee will consist of Chair Brian Kazy, Councilman, City of Cleveland, Ohio; Vice Chair Dontario Hardy, Mayor of Kinston, North Carolina; Vice Chair Nic Hunter, Mayor Lake Charles, Louisiana; and LaShay Harris, Council Vice President, City of Rochester, New York.
