Statement by Councilwoman Jasmin Santana on Increased Gun Crimes
Jul 28, 2022
We deserve safety and security as we live, work, and play in our communities. Unfortunately, there has been an increase in violent gun crimes in my ward. While these crimes have increased across the country and in Cleveland, we can’t accept this.
I’ve asked Cleveland Safety Director Karrie Howard, our law enforcement officers, and other partners to come together to discuss and address this issue in our ward and across the city. A meeting is scheduled for 6 pm, Aug. 24th, at the Pivot Center, Inlet Dance Theatre, 2937 W. 25th St. Please join us.
On August 2nd the annual Night Out Against Crime events are happening across the city, including at Steelyard Commons. I’m hoping Cleveland residents take the opportunity to attend these events. We must all work together to create a safer Ward 14 and a safer Cleveland.
