Cleveland (Dec. 6, 2023) — Council President Blaine A. Griffin has been appointed as chair to National League of Cities Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Affairs (FAIR) Federal Advocacy Committee. As chair, Council President Griffin is also a member of NLC’s Board of Directors.
“The National League of Cities Board of Directors plays an essential role in guiding our organization’s priorities and programming,” said National League of Cities (NLC) President David Sander, mayor-elect of Rancho Cordova, CA, who recently announced the appointments. “I look forward to working closely together with this remarkable group of leaders to elevate the voices and priorities of cities, towns, and villages across America over this next very important year.”
As chair of NLC’s FAIR Committee, Council President Griffin will be leading the committee responsible for providing strategic direction and advocacy for NLC’s agenda and policy priorities on municipal bonds, Census, tax reform, antitrust issues, labor relations, civil rights and more.
“I’m excited and honored to have been appointed as chair of the FAIR Committee and to represent this committee on NLC’s Board of Directors,” said Council President Griffin. “The FAIR Committee plays an important role in helping policymakers in Washington understand the issues and challenges facing America’s cities, towns and villages at the local level.
“The policymakers need to understand their actions have a direct and profound impact on local government operations.”
