Council Meeting Highlights

Cleveland (Jan. 29, 2024) - City Council held its regular meeting tonight, both in person in Council Chambers and live streamed. Council's next meeting will be Monday, Feb. 5th. Here are today’s highlights:
Broadband Initiative Support: Council approved the offer from the National Forum For Black Public Administrators, through its AmeriCorps Vista program, to place an intern, at no cost to the City, to assist implementation of the City’s broadband initiative, for a period of one year. Ord. No. 72-2024
New Procedures for Council Meeting Disruptions: Cleveland City Council, with Cleveland Department of Safety and Law Department guidance, created protocols for disruptions of Council Meetings. The new procedures were read by Council President Blaine A. Griffin at the start of the meeting tonight.
Introduced:
Legislation was introduced Jan. 29 including entering into an agreement with Crime Stoppers; providing city support for an indoor pickleball facility; selling city-owned property no longer needed; providing easement rights no longer needed in the Flats East Bank Development area; repairing, maintaining and installing concrete on runways, taxiways, and roadways include some of the legislation introduced. After introduction, most legislation will go to City Departments for review before returning to Council for committee hearings.
