Council recently passed legislation extending the temporary expansion of restaurants onto parking lots, streets and other public rights-of-way. The initial expansion, adopted earlier this year, was aimed at helping restaurants add more dining space in order to maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The legislation passed Wednesday, Oct. 21, extends the expansion from November 1, 2020, to June 1, 2021. But council members said they want to extend it further to November 1, 2021. Ord. No. 832-2020.
Councilman Kerry McCormack, one of the sponsors of the extension, said the administration now must do its park and make the permitting process as efficient as possible.
