Next Step for Redevelopment of Clark-Fulton Building After Council Vote

November 11, 2019
The Clark-Fulton neighborhood continues to see new businesses and redevelopment and council action paved the way for more.

City Council  approved legislation at it's Nov. 11 meeting to set up Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for a private developer to redevelop the vacant Astrup Awning Company building on West 25th Street into a community-oriented center. The TIF diverts the increase in future property taxes resulting from the project’s improvements for up to 30 years.

The property, which is in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood, consists of four interconnected buildings, three stories high. The renovated space will house a number of non-profit organizations that focus on arts, culture and social services.

The $13.5 million project will create over 65 jobs for local residents. Ord. No.1210-2019.
