Cleveland City Council’s Community & Economic Development (CDED) Committee will take a look back at how Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funding awarded in 2009 has been used and then look to the future in a discussion on how NSPII funds can be allocated.
$25 million in NSP funding that was allocated to the City of Cleveland in 2009 to address vacant and abandoned housing in the City of Cleveland. On Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:30 am, the CDED will receive an update on the use of NSP funds from the Department of Community Development, which will also report on the status of NSPII funding applications.
On Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 9:30 am, the CDED Committee will receive an update on the use of NSP funds as well as operational updates from the Department of Building and Housing. Among changes to the Department to be discussed are staff changes and the creation of a Vacant Property unit and a Rental Registration unit.
“NSP funding has been a helpful tool in Breaking the Cycle of Abandonment,” said CDED Chairman Anthony Brancatelli. “It is important that Council have an understanding of the use of these funds, particularly as we prepare to start Community Development Block Grant Budget Hearings in February.”
