| WHAT: |
The Committee will review legislation introduced by Councilman Zack Reed, Ward 3; to prohibit text messaging on wireless handsets while driving. The legislation is co-sponsored by Safety Committee Chair Kevin Conwell, Ward 9; and Councilwoman Mamie Mitchell, Ward 6. |

| WHY: |
“Texting while driving causes unnecessary accidents,” said Councilman Reed. “This legislation would require drivers to pull to the side of the road to have a conversation through texting, protecting the safety of other drivers and pedestrians.”
Legislation that passes out of Finance Committee is usually voted upon at the Monday night Council Meeting at 7 pm in Council Chambers.
